The Lenoir-Mec magnetic drum (STM) is used in several industries:

  • Recycling & Waste recovery: separation of ferrous materials before eddy current separators.
  • Wood processing: removal of nails, screws, and staples from wood chips and shavings.
  • Glass & plastics industry: purification of granules and powders.
  • Cement & foundry: protection of crushers and optimization of production flows.
  • Chemical industry: separation of carbon particles and other metallic impurities.

Operating principles

How our magnetic drum separators (STM) work:

  • The magnetic drum separator uses a powerful magnetic field to capture ferromagnetic particles contained in bulk materials.
  • The product to be processed is fed into a feed hopper and then directed to the rotating drum.
  • Attraction of metal particles: ferrous elements are retained by the magnetic field.
  • Gravitational separation: non-magnetic materials fall naturally into a first chute.
  • Extraction of ferromagnetic materials: once outside the magnetic zone, the contaminants are released into a second chute.
