The eddy current separator PELICAN is designed for the automatic recovery of aluminum, copper, and brass from bulk dry waste streams. It is intended for sorting centers, recycling operators, and municipalities seeking to recover value from their waste streams using reliable, safe, and cost-effective equipment.
Unlike standard eddy current separators, the PELICAN features a thermal camera that continuously monitors the eddy current drum area and triggers an automatic shutdown of the system in the event of an abnormal temperature rise. The PELICAN effectively separates aluminum (cans, profiles, sheets), copper, and brass from inert fractions (plastic, glass, wood, paper) in dry recycling streams.
The PELICAN is based on the physical principle of eddy currents: a high-speed magnetic rotor, composed of permanent magnets, rotates at 5,000 rpm at the end of the conveyor belt and generates a powerful alternating magnetic field. When aluminum, copper, or brass parts pass through this field, eddy currents are induced in them. These currents, in turn, generate a magnetic field opposite to that of the rotor, creating a repulsive force that ejects the non-ferrous metals onto a separate path from the inert materials. Plastics, glass, and wood follow their natural path and are collected separately.
The PELICAN is equipped as standard with a thermal camera that continuously monitors the polar wheel area. In the event of an abnormal temperature rise or detection of a fire, the system automatically shuts down. This active safety feature protects both the operator and the equipment.
The PELICAN is a PVC belt-type eddy current separator, available in four product passage widths ranging from 650 to 1,200 mm to accommodate the processing capacities of medium- to large-scale sorting centers.
The high-performance 5,000 rpm pole wheel ensures optimal ejection force for non-ferrous metals. The 400 mm high sidewalls keep the product on the belt and enhance operator safety. The trough-shaped base ensures watertightness and precise guidance of the PVC conveyor belt. The self-supporting frame facilitates quick disassembly and replacement of the belt, reducing downtime.
The equipment is delivered with CE marking in compliance with the Machinery Directive. The Lenoir-Mec service network guarantees rapid response and maintains a dedicated stock of spare parts to minimize downtime on your sorting line.
The magnetic separator can be equipped with an AED-RX power and control cabinet, a vibrating feeder with frame, a touchscreen control panel, a polyurethane (PU) belt, and a customizable RAL color.
Concentric or eccentric? Available in concentric or 0-30° eccentric versions for improved ejection.
