Frequently asked questions
Does LENOIR sell outside France?
Raoul LENOIR ships approximately 40% of its production outside France.
Benelux, Europe, South and North America, Russia, Asia and of course North Africa: we have carried out installations and delivered thousands of products worldwide.
Contact our Export Manager by email at dario.delrossi@raoul-lenoir.com. We will come and meet you, wherever you are.
Is magnetic lifting reliable and safe?
The answer is definitely yes.
For a novice, it can be alarming to see a 60-tonne load held by an electromagnet. Beyond the fact that thousands of tonnes are handled with electromagnets every day around the world, which is the most convincing proof of the effectiveness of this type of equipment, the following arguments can be added:
– very low and slow mechanical wear of electromagnets compared with grabs and slings.
– the magnetic force between the steel magnet and the steel load is so strong that it could be compared to a weld.
– standards impose safety factors depending on whether permanent magnets or electromagnets are used.
– even in the event of a power failure, electromagnets are instantly supplied by batteries.
– to prevent human error, the regulatory ergonomics of a demagnetisation control require the release of the load to be confirmed by two deliberate actions, i.e. simultaneously pressing 2 buttons located apart from each other.
Note: Equipment must be regularly maintained and inspected, and used only for the tasks for which it was designed.
I have a bulk product to sort or purify. How can I find out what can be extracted?
If you are unsure whether steel and aluminium can be extracted, whether as large pieces or fine particles, contact the technical sales representative for your area. Drawing on their experience, they will be able to answer you and, if necessary, we can carry out test center trials. We have a fleet of machines covering the various magnetism-based technologies.
To compare solutions by location (drum, pulley, overband, grate, detector), see the guide Removing metals from a material flow; for aluminium and other non-ferrous metals, see the guide Eddy current separator: principle and applications.
Does LENOIR-MEC repair competitors’ equipment?
We have in-depth knowledge of magnetism, which enables us to repair lifting electromagnets from competing brands on a daily basis.
We also repair electromagnetic overband magnets and in-line separation housings from other manufacturers.
For any other equipment, specify its brand and model in the “Contact” section.
What are the different trades at LENOIR-MEC?
LENOIR-MEC is synonymous with… Magnetism!
We have been using this technology for more than 70 years, with know-how passed on and improved with each generation.
We are active in all industry sectors (for example food processing, recycling, mining and quarrying, glass and ceramics, chemicals, plastics and wood), and this requires trained, multidisciplinary teams. From certified welders to engineers running numerical simulations, from field after-sales electromechanical technicians to Quality inspectors, technical sales representatives and electromagnet coil winders, all trades are represented to sell, manufacture and repair mechanical, electrical and magnetic equipment.
Every LENOIR-MEC employee is trained in several disciplines, which makes working in our organisation particularly rewarding.

I would like a service visit on my site. Who should I contact?
Whether to help you commission new equipment, to carry out an assessment of your equipment in operation, or to schedule a repair visit, contact our After-Sales Service Manager by email at sophie.niay@raoul-lenoir.com
Periodic inspections of a separator (magnetic flux density measurement in gauss, contract or on-demand audit) are detailed in the guide Maintenance and inspection of a magnetic separator.
Where can I find spare parts for my equipment?
Whether you need spare parts urgently or to plan maintenance, request a quote from sophie.niay@raoul-lenoir.com, stating the serial number of your equipment or, better still, attaching a photo of the nameplate.
Some examples of items we may keep in stock for the most frequently produced references:
- INA and SKF bearings and bearing units,
- Rossi, SEW and Leroy Somer geared motors and motors
- Endless belts, vulcanised or with fasteners, in rubber with cleats.
- Ferrite and N40 neodymium permanent magnets for magnetic bars and eddy current separators.
- Epoxy glass-fibre shells
