HBEP – Battery-powered electro-permanent lifting magnet
Battery-powered electro-permanent magnet: mobility, advanced safety, energy savings. Ideal for industrial lifting and ferrous materials up to 5,000 kg.

In brief
-
The battery-powered electro-permanent lifting magnet (HBEP) is self-contained and can be used anywhere in a workshop.
-
It is used to move steel plates, shaped parts or round bars one at a time, for steel fabricators, boilermakers, oxy-fuel or laser cutters, steel stockholders and steelmakers.
-
Electro-permanent technology consumes 95% less than an electromagnet and holds the load even when the battery is empty, with 4 power levels.

Fields of application

- Battery-powered electromagnets are self-contained and can be used anywhere in a workshop.
- The battery allows several hundred handling operations before it needs recharging from a 220 Vac socket.
- It is a very practical and cost-effective lifting tool for moving steel plates, shaped parts or round bars one at a time.
- HBEP brings safety and speed to steel fabricators, oxy-fuel or laser cutters and boilermakers, as well as steel stockholders and steelmakers.

Operating principles
- When the operator presses the button to magnetise, the battery delivers an electrical pulse to the internal coils surrounding the permanent magnets.
- This magnetises the magnets, which then hold the load. No further electrical power is consumed. The load remains held until the operator sets it down and commands demagnetisation. The safety system will only accept release if the sensor indicates that the load has been set down.
- When picking up plates, the operator can first select a power level so as to pick up only the top plate of the stack.
Operating recommendations
- Mobile use: Thanks to its battery power supply, it can be used in environments without a fixed power source.
- Safe operation: Check that the green indicator light is on before any lift.
- Optimised charging: The battery provides autonomy for 1,000 cycles; remember to recharge it regularly.
- Adapting to loads: Select the magnetic mode according to the size and weight of the objects to be lifted.
- Working conditions: Clean the magnetic surfaces regularly to maintain efficiency.

Frequently asked questions
How does the HBEP electro-permanent lifting magnet work?
When the operator presses the button, the battery sends an electrical pulse to the internal coils, which magnetise the permanent magnets. The load is then held without any power consumption until demagnetisation, which the safety system only accepts if the sensor indicates that the load has been set down.
What is the battery autonomy of the HBEP?
The battery allows several hundred handling operations before recharging from a 220 Vac socket, and provides autonomy for 1,000 cycles. The load remains held even when the battery is empty.
Can the HBEP avoid lifting several plates at once?
Yes, the HBEP has 4 power levels. The operator can select a level to pick up only the top plate of the stack, and the system then automatically switches to 100% power once the load has been lifted.
What safety features does the HBEP have?
A proximity detector prevents unintentional demagnetisation in mid-air, and a screen and indicator lights show the status of the unit. Check that the green indicator light is on before any lift.
In which trades is the HBEP used, and how should it be maintained?
It is used by steel fabricators, oxy-fuel or laser cutters, boilermakers, steel stockholders and steelmakers to move steel plates, shaped parts or round bars one at a time. The magnetic surfaces should be cleaned regularly to maintain its efficiency.
